Went to Fort Anahuac Saturday. I wanted to try out my two new Captain Bruce's Big Gun 20"x15"x11" convertible crab traps. I used a temporary top setup for both traps. The traps worked great. I was catching 3-5 crabs every pullup at 15 minute intervals. Caught 71 crabs. Unfortunately, only 3 keepers.  Sad The rest of the blue crabs were small. Mostly between 3"-4 1/2".

This is my third time crabbing at three different places around the Galveston Bay complex. I'm beginning to think around the entire shoreline of the Galveston Bay complex, something is wrong.  Huh It's hard to catch legal sized crabs from the bank or from a pier.

Hopefully the small crabs means it will get better. I think last summers drought may be part of the lack of big crabs.

There are just not many good sized crabs.

A lot of commercial crabbers are not getting crabs.

It is just too dry. We need more rain in south texas too.

I haven't heard of many reports around the Sabine river area Tx. La. border.

Catching plenty of crabs in the Mississippi delta.  Driving the market down.

I have a buddy that I buy from that crabs the Sabine river on the Texas side.  He is actually doing pretty well running around 250 pots.  Most of his traps are far north in the river all the way up towards interstate 10.

I know a guy that use to crab that area.  Haven't heard from him in a while.  Can't believe that y'all aren't catching any crabs on the beach.  I thought that area would be producing some crabs by now.
