Does anyone know how crabbing in and around Ocean City is doing?  I am heading down this Saturday for a week and plan to crab a few days off a boat.  Just wondering.

The crabs die quick in OC, unlike Chesapeake crabs.  So keep them cool and moist. Its very hit and miss as to where to go.  Basically, you can catch them anywhere near the marshes on the western side.  Moving tide is also a big factor in the Assa bay.

If you see a pontoon this weekend crabbing, stop by and say hello.  Ill be around the 90 bridge on Saturday evening with the kids.

hey Skip
why is that true that the crabs die easier in OC?  i have had a sucky mortality rate as well.  Plus, i feel bad.  I meant to ask some of the wiley veterans on here what is the best way to keep the crabs alive for a few hours before steaming them.  i like to put ice in a cooler / cover the ice w/ cardboard or paper or a towel and then my crabs.  I was never sure if it was better to keep the cooler lid open or closed.

anyone have any tips for keeping the crabs alive for a few hours?Huh  Assume my frig is not big enough

i will be crabbing & fishing in that area as well.  I have a Mako named Triple J.  he u see me, flag me down as well

I crabbed St. Martins river on the right side just as you go under the Route 90 bridge about three weeks ago. I used a 600' trot line and ended up with 46 keepers. I must have knocked off at the very least 150 that were on the small side or carrying eggs. I would say about 6' of water.
