I've heard that you have to crack and clean them and they will last a week in the frig; They don,t last that long in my house. When I get home they may sit overnight in a cool dark place with a damp rag on top of them . Then it's right to the steamer for a feast fit for the Gods! Crabs; Corn on the cob; Boiled taters and a brew to wash down the old bay!If you have so many you have to freeze them you need to invite a few fellow crabbers over to help dispose of em! Don

To truly enjoy crabs, STEAM..do not boil and do so asap. Purchase a quality steamer and the jumbo size Old Bay to really go to town.
Once steamed  you can store in fridge up to a week [no way they last that long at my house]. Crabs once cleaned may store longer but I do not recommend freezing.

I clean the crabs then freeze them in a plastic container filled with water so I have crabs to eat in the winter when Im not catching them.
The water h\keeps them from drying out and they still taste fresh when cooked. The only draw back is the meat dosent come out as easily as when thay are cooked fresh
