Hey folks, I am a NNJ/CNJ transplant now residing in Rockland County for about three years now. I am completely stunned on how phenomenal the crabbing/fishing is here, albeit not the numbers that I get in Jersey but the size amazes me which is a good thing. I normally crab from Bear Mountain down to the Haverstraw Ferry with fantastic results.

Since I moved into the area I use some of my unconventional crabbing tactics in the Hudson that we use in our Hotel/Reg. traps in the Barnegat bay like tuna cans w/oil not water (avoiding the bunker rot and NY's ridiculous bunker prices) with terrific results. Since crabs are opportunistic bottom feeding scavengers, they will take whatever is given to them.
