This is EXACTLY why I don't post or comment on this board anymore, it is absolutely absurd how people are treated on here and NOTHING is said or done about it!! My 2 cents...couldn't take it anymore I had to express myself, now I'll go back to my hole!!

Great catch.  I will be there this weekend.  Caught a basket+ several days ago on the Wye.  Couldn't go this weekend due to my daughters softball tournament in Sykesville.  I did get to drive over the Paps. River..........stinky, stinky.

What it really comes down to is SOMEONE is reporting on the river they crab and dont want everyone running over there and take "THEIR" crabs on "THEIR" river, what a is a real shame is there is more posts on his report about how good or bad his catch was then congratulations!! 1 BUSHEL of Wye River crabs is a great day in any ones book, keep up negitive comments and no one will post anymore and crabforum will go away! That would make some people happy, that way no one will crab THEIR river. Just sayin my 2cents worth.

What I consider a very wise man once told me " I don't speak unless what I have to say is kind , true & necessary"

another told me "Resentments are like peeing in your own pants, everybody can see it but you the only one that's gonna feel it"

maybe we can ask for a private section where us bad crabbers or{honest}crabbers can post our reports without getting ridiculed

Now that's funny.......  and everyon'e perception / opinion is what it is......
bottom line sound like the poster had fun and enjoyed his day and hopefully enjoyed his crabs.....

Thanks for the report.

While you are correct anyone can catch a crab but if you think there isnt a level of experience that goes into catching efficiently your a fool. I have crabbed recreationally my whole life and the last few years commercially. I learned from a very experienced waterman that basically outcrabs anyone that i know. Knowing how to crab the tides, water conditions, depths, bottom geography, time of year, type of bait for time of year, length of lines in different situations, boat set up, etc... are all factors that come with experience. Ultimately your correct anyone can catch a crab but i would not be happy with 1 bushel in 6 hours. Thats just piss poor crabbing, but hey this guy had a blast and was pleased with his catch so congrats to him.
That is not piss poor crabbing young man!  Im sure he probally through back a bushel of juvies.  Just because he was there 6 hours does not mean he was grinding for 6 hours.  He may of had his wife with him and got lucky for awhile.  If your crabbing where he went then I doubt you are a hot shot comm. guy.  I know the hot shots down there!  And I am one of them! Wow ,way to rain on his parade everyone, some of us aren't the gifted crabbers others are.I'd be as excited as him,and wouldn't care how far I had to drive or how long it took. For some of us getting a full bushel is still a big deal.I'm not ashamed to say I'm one of them.Think before you post please, not everyone's been crabbing their whole life and are as skilled as others.

Wow... I never thought such a simple post would turn into something this big. I wouldn't really say it was a grind. I had my son with me so it was fun. We probably caught. 300 crabs but had to throw many back because they were too small. We had a blast and if I knew I would do that well tomorrow I would go again. That was more than enough to feed my entire family and have leftovers for friends. Sorry if I misled anyone with my report title. I hope to have 30 traps by the end of the year so maybe my production will go up

Most of us are just having fun with this!  Except for the hot shot know it all.  You did good and yes they are there.  I am happy with a bushel myself.

Well I feel a little responsible, but I tire of some of what I view as negativity,so I spoke my mind. All in all I think it was a healthy discussion with hopefully something learned.

Good for you Dave!  Great Catch.  Screw all the cocky SOB's on this board who shoot ya down!   laugh

You know you've lost the passion for crabbing when all you do is put down everyone else for not meeting certain goals and guidlines.  Just have fun and crab, you have nothing to prove to anyone but yourself!  Wink

Wow,you don't get it ?? To recap I felt like he was pumped about his catch and the responses were negative, yes mainly yours, but a few others also,so I commented, from there ,it got to be a discussion about different levels of satisfaction with our crabbing results ,and egotists on here bashing us not so great crabbers ? You seem fairly alert to me,you didn't get that Huh
