Most of us are just having fun with this! Except for the hot shot know it all. You did good and yes they are there. I am happy with a bushel myself.
I am going to agree that the title was the catalyst that launched all the highs and lows of this thread.when I seen it my first thought was 2 bushels all 7+" in 2 hours but that's because my perrception of a great day has changed dramatically over the years.
@dave congrats it always feels good to feed you and yours even if some days it takes a little more sweat on some days.

That's because you have become a better crabber, some of us are still learning, and if we do what is great to us,why rain on our parade was all I was saying, not speaking to you of course .

The guy had 20 chicken necks (I am guessing necks)in the water. Not thousands of feet of trotline or several hundred crab pots. That is low budget recreational crabbing at it's finest. Do the math. If he had 1,000 baits in the water for the same amount of time (in theory)he would have caught 50 bushels. Do you have many 50 bushel days POPS324? If he would have had more gear he would have been done much quicker../...Great report and great catch Dave!
[/quote
Well i was happy for the guy to be honest since it sounded like he had a blast. As far as your theory of 50 bushel a day i would love that but unfortunately its not realistic. I ended up with 19 bushel today and had the first 3 in the boat before light with 3k feet in the water. Do you consider that "thousands of feet"
I think i know how to catch a crab or two bud!

Smart [arse] comments like yours explains why its taken me almost a year and a half to total les than 10 posts. I congratulated the guy in my original comment but the point was crabbing has been slow. It shouldn't take anyone 6 hours to catch a bushel (rec or comm), you might not want to hear it cupcake but again thats "piss poor crabbing"
Up until the last few days my season has been piss poor also so i guess i wasn't doing my "job"?
I would consider helping anyone on here with advice or ideas since i dont consider myself a selfish or arrogant comm but something is telling me your the guy that shows up at 6am and runs your line across mine then blames it on me? Just sayin!!
You guys go play with your traps and your all day adventures for 2 dozen and ill go back to keeping my mouth shut for the next year.

Once again everyone has a different level of what good is - me I am still not seeing this as a banner year - in some areas - late fall may be really good - next year should the weather and all hold out - then we might be on the verge of a banner year.
There are lots of crabs by the reports I read - however the keepers are small while the NMSOB's seem to be few. The brood needs time to grow.

hey if your had a good day with family and friend crabning that is what it is all about, but I have to disagree about Comms helping you...
There are several on here too many to name that have provide me info on crabbing and have taken me out repeatedly on their boats and then gave me part of their catch......just for helping cull crabs or talk and joke around... so I think you reap what you sew...... I always watch the comms when they run and then approach before they hook up and confirm their lays.... they appreciate it and they will usually tell me where I can crab and catch em while not interfering with them .. they have even picked up a stray trap or two that has floated off and got in their lines.. although I thry and make a habit not to have that happpen.... I beat most times they would have kept the gear or cut it off....why did they give it back ....cause I was considerate...... several comms on here have helped me more than a lot of the recs I know........ So that may be your opinion, but in my experience I have had nothing but good things to say about the comms on here or the ones on the water I meet, now I have meet a few who would not give me the time of day, but that is the exception not the case.. I have had more run ins and issues with recs to be honest..... it only takes a few to ruin the opinion of the masses...... few rotten apples can and do spoil the barrel....... probably why the few comms that would give me the time of day were like that.... have had to deal with an iconsiderate rec or two..... But I really think this thread is becoming another rec vs comm and it must be slow crabbing right now I guess........ Guess what I am trying to say is what comes around goes around.... Ok you can all go and bash the dog now if you like , but had to put my two cents in.....

I agree and if you saw my response to CrabbyD ,aknowledge my mistake.I agree wholeheartedly with your whole approach to dealing with comms and really in life in general when a potentially volatile situation occurs I always say it's like a match has been lit,it can either be put out or gas can be poured on it,an aplogy or kind word can defuse the situation and harsh words will fuel the flame. My fault again for putting everyone in one category, and I've never had any experiences with any Comms so I shouldn't have commented that way in the first place, and in reality I should know better because i make my living as what has become a nationwide term,a "slumlord" and I'm anything but.
