I checked out the dock (dock outfitters) and it was very slow about 12:30pm today. The crabs people had were not legal size except for two. CO could have a field day with fines today there. I remember loading up at that dock years ago but havent seen the numbers last few years so I havent stayed there to crab.

Thanks for the reports Bobby, sorry to hear you had low numbers this year.  At least it wasn't horrible.   Grin

jason...plenty of action...just very few keepers...must have been about a hundred of those big commercial traps surrounding the body of water in front of the  house we rent(watched the boaters lift em every morning)...its a miracle any keepers actually made it through to our dock...not a fan of leaving a trap and coming back a day later to catch 15-20 keepers....we believe in working for our catch....after picking up about 10,000 traps this week and a few days of tennis this old man cannot lift his right arm this morning...not a good thing when i get back to work tomorrow(i hope)....mailmen need their arms working properly

Sounds like a perfect vacation spot within driving distance. Used to rent every year down there with family (35+ years ago). You got me wondering if I should go again. Sounds like a nice place with dock and all, I wouldn't need much else. Thanks for the report and the memories.

floyd...not much has changed.(except the prices and the crab size)..my dad first started taking the family in 1962...(been here every year since)...house on the water went for 60 bucks for the week back then ....(paid 3,000 for this past week)...the land crabbing has changed to where the old days 6 inchers have become thousands of 3 inchers....boat crabbing is also not what is used to be....there are 3 public piers instead of 1....plenty of room on the piers except for weekends...boardwalk hasnt changed a bit.....still the best for the kids and grandkids ...who dont care about the size of the crab or the price of the rental....will keep going here  every year till they bury me

That time of the year on the island side

after picking up about 10,000 traps this week and a few days of tennis this old man cannot lift his right arm this morning..

Lots of good tennis courts down there.  My wife tries to get me to go out all the time to the Lavallette courts but tennis is not good for me, mostly cause I stink at it

this old man cannot lift his right arm this morning...not a good thing when i get back to work tomorrow(i hope)....mailmen need their arms working properly

HAHAHAHA, my father in law works for the postal service over here in North Jersey.  I have a lot of respect for you guys walking around everyday in this heat.  Stay hydrated my friend.  Enjoy those crabs  Grin
