He does know that river.  At least the end we were on.  He knew the depths and the hot spots.  I talked to several watermen today as they were offloading and they all sounded like a broken record.  They all blamed it on the storm.  I would be ok with running traps and the line, I just think 30 baits/200 baits cover more of the bottom...
I believed him from the beginning Tom,he gave me a spot ,it's where we went yesterday,we did good there.Finksburg crabber told me he crabs with him and does well. You get 2 different people ,you get 2 different opinions, not a problem for me as I'm still learning,I more like the line myself anymore, more work in the beginning and the end ,but much less in the middle, plus it covers more area with more bait.

sorry folks for the long delay was on vacation and no computer and hate writing reports on phone and the women hogged the ipad reading 50 shades of grey.....moving forward.....

the first time crabber finally showed up at 7 am, 90 minutes late so i missed the incoming tide but got on  around 730 with 21 moose traps and went right to spot and hit em good with runs of a 10 or so keepers, made a couple runs a decided to show him hand lining. caught about a half dozen hand lining, had an awesome experience when i caught 3 keepers on a single hand line..that was awesome...felt like a monster tugging on it....we pulled anchor and i tried spot up creek but no success so headed back to ramp and asked him when he had to be home, he said he had to leave by 10am, i said what the heck man, it was 945 so i dropped him off at ramp and was going to give him the crabs we caught but he said he did not know what to do with them and did not want any, needless to say was aggravated by then but we packed it up and he went on his way and i took home 72 all to myself.

i still did not get to try the spot i been wanting to try but i will this upcoming week as the boat is in somers pt as we speak, hopefully good things to report. I mostly did well in about 4.5 feet of water... Crabs were a mix of whiteys but most were full of meat, not many sooks at all, I think 1 keeper all 2.5 hours.

A great day on the creek, 72 crabs in 2.5 hours, 80 degrees and no bugs.....but note to self never invite this guy again, even though he is a long time buddy....

Good job. Not only on the crabs but your patience waiting on that guy. You waited about 70 minutes longer than I would have !
