i dont know anybody else up here that goes after frogs but i guess their loss is my gain.  frog season opened today and the girlfriend and i took a walk around a local pond looking for frogs.  we were just using a fishing pole and piece of rubber worm tail on a hook.  we caught 11 frogs some were pretty good sized by my standards.  im frying them up tonight...gf's first taste of frog

If it takes a chicken and a half a day and a half to lay an egg and a half, how long would it take for a squirrel with a wodden leg to kick the seeds out of a dill pickle? Think about it, or not.

First I've heard of frog fishing

it is a fun way to catch them.  some people like to use a piece of red balloon or yarn.  if you get it anywhere near them and give a little twitch, they pretty much cant resist it.  never tried gigging them.

i saved all the bodies after cleaning them up.  i am gonna try using them in my crab traps.  ive seen people on here talk about trying them for baits but didnt hear about the results.

anybody had any luck using frog to catch crab?

Love dem legs - best bugs I ever ett Wink  Frogs will eat anything they can swallow - they are not picky eaters at all - kept some in my pond and would spend hours feeding them - they will eat a hornet as easily as they eat a butterfly.

Small birds, fish, mice other frogs - if they can catch it and swallow it - they will eat it.

Mine would leave the pond at night go 3 or 4 houses up the street hunting - in the morning they were back in the pond.

I had trouble keeping them in the pond, I would go out and catch them, bring them home to the pond and in a day or so they would be gone.

The only frogs that stayed were the ones I raised from tadpole, those stayed - they rest left. It leads me to believe the water they they transformed from tadpole to frog is the water they called home.

Had one in a water barrel - in winter it froze solid - I thought sorry about your luck bud - the next spring there was the frog - I do not know where he wintered - there was not enuff mud in the barrel for him to dig in - only thing I could think of was the garden - but he was there.

They laid egg masses in the pond, the Gold fish ate them - every one of them - kinda like some days you are a bug and some days your are a windshield cause the frogs ate the fish - its called getting even I reckon.

Then I got divorced - she got the car the house the savings and the barrel frog......... laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh
