Got on the water at 04:00 and took our time motoring out and scouted what spots were open. No recs around only comms... glad we didn't bait up a line.. We ran 30 topless with necks in depths from 4ft to 10ft.. As most trips this year - lots and lots of little crabs.. pulling in 2-3 at at time.. did get 6-7 doublers.. One big fat soft sook... ended up at lunch time with a bushel.. we felt like we were in the steamer pot.. It's amazing how many little ones.. Been crabbing that area since I was a teenager and have never seen so many small crabs..

It is amazing how many little crabs are out there. I lost all my bait in like one hour last week while crabbing in crab alley. I wonder if they are competing for food. I have a feeling they will die off before getting big. Some will survive im sure but not all.

thx guys - I agree.. were were averaging like 12-24 little crab per run of 30 traps.. I feel bad for the guys who are taking the time and fuel to try and run lines out there..

9 I hear ya. I use clams and pvc pipe. That helps a lot but not perfect. Salted pig holds up pretty well too but i'm still on the clams.
