I want to make some buoys with 5 gallon buckets.  Do I put a line with a loop on each side or one side.  I fear if its on two and I adjust the line the lid might pop off from the force.  I truly have no idea. Only have run a line twice now, no one to show me, kinda learning as I go, but have adjusted accordingly already and had a GREAT START from learning a few things on this site.  Thanks in advance.

If you did as I just did and put "5 gallon bucket float" in the "Search" at top of page, this is one of many that have been discussed on here:

It's amazing what info can be found quickly using that little box up there.

I made mine with one loop on one side but two loops should work.  I have yet to have a lid pop off and I pull my line very tight.

I've taken to writing the year of purchase on my lids because they tend to develop cracks between the tabs.  I carry an extra lid on board in case a boat or jet ski hits a buoy.  I'm pretty sure that will pop the lid off and sink the buoy.  If it doesn't break the bucket at least a new lid can be put on and keep crabbing.

Protect your buckets from sun light when not in use. Sun light over time will make them very brittle.
