I Love Crabs!

Ignore
« on: August 05, 2012, 07:57:51 PM »

Waited and waited for a rowboat at RBM.  Finally hit the water around 7:45am.  Tide was coming in.  You would think that would be a good thing... but no.  I managed two dozen by 1:30PM.  The big boys are gone.  These crabs were all around 5in.  The only larger crab that I caught was a big guy swimming by the boat which I scooped.  Lots of crabs on the RR bridge.  Hard to get them with my Capt Moose wire scoop - need scapping net with a flat side.

There were TONS of little guys, and a lot a females as well.  Just about all the scapped crabs were doublers doing the mating dance.  I  wish I knew where the big boys went.

I'm going to cut some of those bridge crabber's lines, if they are hanging in the channel crossing under the bridge.  RBM had to put a combination lock on the bathroom because those folks were using his bathroom and making a mess.

You do know where the big boys went.  In fact, you gave the answer in your previous sentence.  Right now, the big biys are either paired-up with females or they are busy scrapping with other males.  They are less-interested in food/baits, and much more interested in sex or fighting.

It's a shame how some people act - maybe a call to the police next time.

Not sure what you mean - we're supposed to run the gauntlet of crab lines?

I think they just had a lot of lines down off the bridges

I would not be too hard on them.  They are crabbing like us and can't afford a boat.  Many arrive on bicycles from pete's sake.  You getting a picture of who they are?

As far as RBM saying "They" are messing up his toilets- I assume "they" were watched by him?

I doubt that "they" would wreck what "they" need more than you are I.   These people live down there.  Likely many use his bathroom more times in a month than most customers use in 5 years.   Makes no sense they would mess up what they need.   Of course they are por- so "they" are savages.  LMAO

You really think this Marina guy actually LET them use his bathroom?  Much less Marina guy did an inspection before and afterward they used the can?    Think if this makes sense?

Ii don't care if anyone crabs from the bridge - just leave the channel path open.  Don't think it is asking too much.

From the roadway, do you think they can tell which span is the channel?

Also given these guys are probably not yachtsmen, do they even know what a channel is?

Perhaps just telling them from a boat where the channel is located under them will do?  I'm sure they dont want you running over their lines and losing their traps.  Could be a win-win all around?
