IMO the advantage to Lips is durability/costs....

When I'm running 6000' of line I won't catch as many crabs with lips as I will with chicken or clam but I don't have to deal with the hours of baiting everyday or every other day...I can "spot" bait and thus makes lips worthwhile.

If I was using box traps or hand lines I would use chicken or clam...I wouldn't even consider using Lips.

NO point at all to use lips in box traps or on a handline IMHO.

here in south jersey bunker works the best but is easily pulled from lines and traps by eels and turtles. i read a while back that the lips out perform chicken and are near impossible to strip from their traps/lines.

One of my neighbors is an avid handliner, and she swears by her bull lips.   Won't even consider using chicken necks or bunker.     She does pretty well with them in Patcong, the Tuckahoe and in the GEH Bay.

I only use them early...

I've talked to several people that have used them(SH) and none of them went back.  Maybe I'll see for myself early next year.

im a chef in ac so i got mine through work. i think they came from rastelli meats. you could probably get eatmore in bridgton to order them for you. or if you just frequent the forum im sure you'll find them. after all, where there's bull sh.t, you're bound to find bull lips.

Thanks Bobby.  I'm going to call them and Bringhurst Meats right here in Williamstown.  Of course they are closed Monday.   Angry
