WE LAUNCHED ON MONDAY AT ABOUT 7:30 WITH THE TIDE RUNNING OUT. AIR TEMP WAS 62 DEGREES.....WATER TEMP WAS 70 DEGREES......5 KT NNE WIND.....LIGHT RAIN.  WE GOT TO OUR SPOT AND LAID THE LINE IN 12-15 FEET OF WATER AT 7:45. NO LCC'S TODAY AROUND US.....ONLY A FEW BOATS WERE OUT RUNNING TRAPS. WE PICKED UP A BUSHEL OF MIXED SIZED CRABS IN ABOUT 1 1/2 HRS AND DECIDED TO HANG AROUND TO GET ANOTHER BUSHEL. THE TIDE WENT SLACK AND WE HAD TO WORK ANOTHER 2 1/2 HRS TO GET THE NEXT BUSHEL. THE CRABS IN SECOND BUSHEL WERE A LITTLE BIGGER, BUT WE ALSO WERE CATCHING A LOT OF NICE SIZE SLICKS.  NO FEMALES, SAVE THE ONE DOUBLER WE CAUGHT. DEBAITED THE LINE AND WERE BACK TO THE LAUNCH AT 12:30. WHAT A YEAR THIS HAS BEEN, AND IT AIN'T OVER YET BY A LONGSHOT.

GOOD HUNTING EVERYBODY!

Nice job and looks like a solid catch....doubler...now that is kind of rare this late in the season, but I'm sure that male was a nice one.

Concur on your prediction about having more season to catch the blues.  Things developed a little late this year, but that is fine with me. That water temp is the key and if it stays in the mid-60's to 70 degrees, they will still be lurking for food and I will still be lurking for them.

Yeah, the funny thing about the doubler was that she was almost as big as he was, and she was as hard as nails....... I think the old boy was a little confused!

yea, captcrab hosted a great trip to eastern bay. dave and i had wonderful time w a great  guy and his crab "vac". he`s like inspector gadget. caught a softcrab,in all places, in the milk crate we were using as a sea anchor. most runswere 10 to 14 crabs per line. nice heavy black bottoms, sadly none over 8.25in. Smiley my only complaint was a measly 12 or 13 crabs per run.  laugh thanks again tom for a great day and filling me in w a great crab fix.   lgc   paul and dave
