Ok will be taken my last trip to the Wye on Thursday and hope I go out with a bang.. It's been a great year and I have met some great people here.. I'm already looking forward to next year.. I will definalty have that Depth finder that Johnny Handlines has for next year... Weather looks good and seems that the depth will be right for my traps... I added up to 20 ft on mine.. Good Luck this weekend Joe and I'll let you know Thursday or Friday on how I did..

Mike

I just got back from the wye.  I did bushel out but it felt like forever.  They are still there but slow.  I only kept crabs over 7".  I was anywhere from 15 - 25' deep.  I laid half of my traps in the area you sent me and the other half in the opposite direction along the shore.  They both seemed to do the same.  It was windy, cloudy and chilly all day, so I guess I did ok for the time of year and what I was up against.  I will post in a little while to include some pics.  Good luck.  Maybe they will cancel class this Thursday.  It seems like they cancel every other weeks class.

I hope you have a depth finder, there are 40+' holes out there they come up fast. I lost one right on corner, couldn't have been more than 75' off shore. Went from 15' to lost in a hurry. Angry

I use Kevins traps and the buoys will float the trap but I put a fresh leg in one and threw it out and down she went! I guess I had drifted a little! Well I did manage to retrieve it and move it back in a little. I was thinking of making up spare lines for the traps so they could be quickly interchanged as needed. Say 15', 30' and maybe even a 40' for the fall migration.

this is a grand idea u have,,hehehe actually this is how i have all my floats rigged and it made it easier not to tangle floats during transport. i have a brass swivel attached to both ends of lines, one at float and one at trap end. the kind of swivel for like deep sea fishing rigs. the break strngth on the ones im using is 65lbs and i havent lost one yet. sure makes it nice when u can just unhook trap and wrap line around float to store. they work just like a safty pin.

Overall not bad,, About 3/4 of a good bushel,, But only a 1/2 in Islander's standard  laugh laugh laugh,, You really need to find them now.. Water temp was only 57 degrees...
