Great job Mike, wish I could have made it out there today. Very nice catch, heck of a way to end the season (maybe). I'll be telling stories about that mudder for a while, never seen anything close to that. Can't wait till next year.
P.S. Thanks for the crabs, next best thing to catching them. You are the man bro, got my fix and I am good for the winter now.

Well here's my report finally... Arrived at dock at 6:00 am and low and behold ' 288 ' was just sitting there.. Yea had to bail have of it out because it was have way filled, and that was the one with the least amount of water in it.. I checked the bushes first to see if ' ST ' was hanging out before I went near ' 288 '.. Whew no ' ST ' was safe taken it.. Got to my spot around 7:30 and started baiting my traps.. [dang] the drumsticks are still frozen and now my hands are too baiting 26 traps. Met Johnny Handlines at dock and his friend Jerry and they were going to try around our old honey hole first too see how it was.. Started crabbing at 8:05 laying my traps along the same line I used last week.. The depths along that line are from 10 ft to over 25 ft.. First run had 4 crabs 2 over 7 1/2 and 2 6 1/2.. Said well that's not too bad.. Well it died after that.. 1 to 2 crabs a run.. Abot a hour or 2 later ' JH ' comes by and he was not doing too well where he was and decided to come out where I was.. Well stayed at that spot until 1:00 am with only about a light half bushel. I was trying to keep all the big guys over 7 inches, but with the day I was having started to keep 6 inches too.. ' Sorry i hate doing that but I needed crabmeat for the cakes during the winter '.. Pulled traps around 1:00 pm and headed to another good spot down river that always has been good to me.. ' JH " pulled his too at the same time and headed back downriver also.. Well put my traps down at the 2nd and this time was getting 3 to 5 crabs a run, Still keeping 6 or more inch crabs.. I did throw back about a dozen or so crabs under 6 inches.. Only caught 5 or 6 females.. My feeling after hitting the 2nd spot was that I should have went there from the start.. Crabs are definatly still there just much harder to find.. Crabydd wants me to go out Friday,, but I think next week they will be gone. Temps during the night are in the 30's and ' JH 's temp gauge had the water at 57 degrees not a good sign.. I'll keep an eye on the post to decide to go next Friday or not.. Just might go for the [Sam Hill] of it, because it would be a pleasure to crab with Crabbyd.. I know he's going Monday or Tuesday show hopefully he'll see if it's worth going Friday or not.. Did have a good report from ' Chuck ' at the dock that a comm guy came in with 7 bushels.. UUUMMM wonder ' How far he was out '..... Thanks to everyone here it's been a great year and can't wait until next year.. my calander is already marked for May 31st... Oh yea by the way,,, Every crab that I cleaned last night were busting out with meat..

Nice job Mike, it's been a fabulous year. These are the days you need to work harder and move earlt to get your fill. I'll worry about next year after this season ends, that's a negative thought.
Where you out in the middle of where you were at, to the right?

The 1st spot I was about 200 yds out from the pier and the depth really didn't change much.. The depth out there is really weird.. The depth right by those piers I think is close to 30 ft, and thats where all my black crabs came from... The boat on the lift is called ' Isles Vue '.. If you used that as you starting point, about 100 yds or more off of that and head back into the Wye it gets really deep there.. The second spot I tried to get as close to the channel as I could, but that depth varied too,, The beginning traps were in 12 ft and heading towards the landing the depths got over 25 ft.. So as you can see I really need a depth finder.. Glad my traps float because I had to chase several of them down yesterday...
,, Good luck Sunday.. I have heard though that out towards the light house is still producing...

Driving home I was thinking about my day,, and as you all know, I like to run my traps in a straight line.. I don't think thats the best way right now.. I should learn to scatter them about this late in the season.. I had over 10 traps out of 26 that did not have the bait touched 1 time.. I should have scatterd at least 6 traps around those piers and probably would have done better.. Also that ' Clam Line Bouy' ,, produced again as usual.. Should have scattered several around there too.. I'm learning still,, so I'll be ready for next year.. ' JC ',, don't worry about next year,, with all the little ones I got this year, I can only believe it's still going to be good..
