Three---8 pointers

Hey All,

I just had to ask if anyone has ever herd of someone having a hunting season like I am about to describe?

A couple guys and I hunt Carroll and Fredrick county's (sometimes Baltimore and Howard but not much) on a couple different farms.  On of the fellas we hunt with however, has killed not one, not two, but three 8 pointers already.  I am talking big bucks, too.  First day of bow season he got the one with a 18" spread, later in bow he got another with a 19" spread, and first day of muzzle loader he got one with a 18.5" and very tall rack as well.  Me and the other guys haven't even seen anything above a 6 pointer.  We are thinkin were gonna stop hunting with him.  His taxidermy bill is up to $750. 

Anyone else have a hunting buddy who keeps killing the big bucks and leaving you all the does?

I'm Still having fun though (Deer seem to be rutting real hard now)

I think maybe you better rub on him or something sounds like hes at rite place at rite time some times its just your turn so keep the faith and hunt hard it ill be your turn

Don't worry about it... I already had 2 nine's shot off my farm and I haven't even hunted it yet.  I'll take a big fat doe.  Only recipe I know that is different for a buck vs a doe is ANTLER SOUP.  make the soup the same, but, if it a doe you stir the soup with a spoon, but, if it is a buck you use the antlers to stir the soup.

  Nothing wrong with shooting a big fat doe, no sir. 

Its just when you hunt 100yds from a guy and he kills three big bucks before you even see one, it can be a little dissapointing.  No Worries though, I am a meat hunter as well, if i see a nice buck than ill harvest him, if not, a big fat doe taste just as good. 

Your right, you cant eat the antlers, but they do make for good handles when your pulling the deer to the ol' pick up.

A guy that works for me just got back from a week in Illinois... he didn't shoot his bow once, but he and his buddy saw about 50 monster deer.  He said some looked to be 12 to 14 points.  Sounds like thats were the big boys are.

A buddy of mine is out in Illinois this week also for a big buck hunt.  I am looking forward to hear what he gets.  He killed 29 deer last year.  He takes off 2 months to hunt deer.  Doesn't take any time off the rest of the year.  Deer slayer he is...!  He always keeps me in some meat, which helps as I have shot 3 and ran over 4 on the road with various different trucks.  I must just drive my truck around the farm fields this year.  M ay be more successful.

He said they both got some good looks at a few, but held out for something bigger, then time ran out, and they can back empty handed.  He's going again, and I'm sure he'll whack one eventually.  He's a pretty good bowhunter.

Meat hunter here, no question about it!!!! I just love the serenity of the woods, the hunt, the kill, the getting together w/ my father and brothers to butcher them and have some vino. It's the best time of year.

He's shot his does, checked them in using the new system, put the tag in the ear before moving the game, wore orange during muzzleloader, had the written permision from the land owner, used only a compound bow and an inline muzzle loader...

I am not one to ever blow the whistle on anyone, but I have heard way to many stories of people who are either unaware, or just plain abusing the new system.

I agree, i am a little skeptical about the new system, too. However, we both know people did not check in deer using the old system before, why would they start now given a new system is in place?

My friend though, had to check his in due to the fact he is getting them mounted, and the taxidermist requreis a conformation ##.

P.S.  Saw a nice shooter last saturday in the afternoon, to much brush though to get a shot in, will try again this friday afternoon.
