Even a blind man knows when the sun is shinin'

Hey all,
Will be in OBX for the first time next week. Grin Grin Grin Grin  Planning on doing some chicken neckin' with the family.
Was wondering what some of the regs were.
Do I need a licence of some kind?
What are the creel limits?
I assume that the min. size is 5 in. like it is here in De., but I just wanted to make sure.

If anyone can let me know, I would greatly appreciate the input.

Thanks,
Finster

You are correct on the 5 in size limit.  You can keep up to 50 per person a day with a 100 total limit per  boat.
Good luck-  Bob

Gene,
I will try to hook up w/you when we are down. We will be arriving Sun 7/23. Staying somewhere in KDH. Very generous of you to offer. We don't have a boat so we will be looking for land based places to go.

Thanks,
Finster

Interested in how you made out crabbing.  We will be going down to the Outer Banks in September and are in need of information on where to go, what to use (traps or hand line), etc.  Any input would be helpful.  Thanks   Cheesy

Crabbing is very good along the upper Outer Banks, west of Kill Devil Hills in the Eastern Albermarle and should be getting even better in the next month as the crabs begin to move south. I talked to a friend from Hatteras last week and he  told me crabbing had been slow down there all summer, but that's not really uncommon for the summertime.Try to stay inside the reefs to catch the jimmies down off frisco when you go in the deeper waters you will be more likely to catch females. Also this time of year the crabs don't live very well, coming out of the hot water with a high salt content I've seen em die before you make it back to the dock. You might want to take a cooler with a little ice. If you in the Kill Devil Hills area look me up,your more than welcome  to go along commercial crabbing trip with us. We leave around 6 am and get back about noon.   Gene Ashton   Cell 252 202 6469

How many traps can you use when crabbing in NC? I'm going Nags Head in October and want to do some crabbing from my kayak? I have 20 hoop ring traps and 4 Foxymate topless traps.

Thanks,
Rod
