I was reading the Flordia DNR crabbing regulations and ran into this one - the Blue Land Crab:
looks nothing like the other Blue Crab, and has one huge right claw and one smaller left claw.

They dig holes in the ground and migrate across roads where they get flattened!
They're about the same same size but walk much taller and on land.

They're all over the place around this area (Miami, Ft Laud). I've never eaten them, but have heard of alot of people doing so. Expecially the immigrants (Cubans, etc)...I guess they eat alot of them in their home countries. Huh

They are quite plentiful on the Caribbean coast of Colombia also. I haven't eaten any as I haven't had the opportunity but next time I'm down there I'll give them a try.

I have had the blue crab ( Steamed with Old Bay ) but they were small. 5 in. max.
