Ok, guys. Here's the latest version of the new "Official" BCA member decal. Some comments on my part:

I like the idea of the crab shell facing upwards, the text fits better with this orentation and the decal looks more balanced. I can only do ONE color since they will be silk screened. That color will be BLACK. I tried it all in blue and it doesn't look right. I can make a multi-colored decal for the online store, the decal will be a tad smaller though.

There is room across the top of the decal for a slogan... anyone have an idea? Regardless, I think this current version looks very clean and professional (with or without a slogan.) What do you think?

And here's the new "CRAB" decal that I will have silk screened too (printed on real vinyl!)

My vote would be to add claws instead of a slogan!

I think a picture of me wouldn't be two bad. Grin The slogan may look too conjested, looks great but the claw thing is worth a try. Wink

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

Regarding the claws... I agree that it would look more like a real blue crab with claws... but I've tried it with claws and there's simply not enough space on an oval decal for claws... plus the crab doesn't look right with claws and no legs or backfins. Adding those makes the crab more circular and not oval, so I have to zoom out to make it all fit... then the shell is too small and the sticker becomes too busy/cramped and the text becomes difficult to read.

It's either the carapace or a whole crab... there's no "right" looking in between. And a whole crab means zooming out so that all of its legs and claws fit.

I think I'm going to have to stick with the current layout. The carapace fills the whole sticker, it's clean, easy on the eyes, and most of all, it's simple.

I was thinking about putting "Dedicated to the Atlantic Blue Crab (Callinectes sapidus)" across the top and changing "M E M B E R" to read

Here's something that might work (please excuse the rough hand-drawn additions)... what do you think of this compromise?

Here it is, again, more true-to-life... again, this is a rough draft, but you get the idea.

Yeah, I'm not going to be able to please everybody. Some prefer it with claws/legs, others without. I personally like it without... much cleaner design. But, I'm going to re-work it one more time at home tonight and try to get the legs/claws in there without making it look too busy.

......When I reduce that pic to the size of the sticker you sent me, and step back away from the cumputer screen and look at it.....it gets really confusing with only the letters noticable, unless you kept it that size. My vote would be for the original...just the shell. I though it was direct and too the point..........simple!!! I like simple!!! Grin

Try placing the above design or any new designs where your logo name is to the left.........if you can make it out perfectly (like the original shell only) then you got a winner. I can look at your avatar now and know exactly what it is, even at that size. Just an opinion.

Yeah, I like the original too. These stickers will be applied to cars and boats and will be seen from a distance. The original shell-only design is clean and easily identifiable from a distance.

I think this will be the final design.

If people like the design with the whole crab (claws and legs) I can print up some of those too (without the BCA text) and sell them. What do you think?
