Good report Mike and they should double the fine everytime you get a repeat offender and jail on the 3rd time. It's like everything else the penalties don't fit the crime, and it's always the victims that suffer.
You catch the guy and give him a beating and they hit you with a stiff penalty to set an example because they can't or won't enforce the laws. I am not against legal immigration or any particluar race, but look at who is doing all this demonstrating, the illegal immigrants, and our lawmakers are backing down. Take a vote from the people and you will find out what the majority thinks and wants. These politicians are just worried about there free meal ticket (US) and getting to a hefty retirement while they live expense free.
If you don't voice your opinoin it will never be heard.
Craboholic, sorry about your accident, sounds like no insurance, which means you are screwed and we all get stuck with the bill again.

Southswell, if people read that and reversed it maybe some of these rich little, need a life protesters, would get a clue of what really is going on here. And it's not that way just in Mexico, go to Italy, France, Japan, etc and you won't see anything like what we do here. People keep saying we all came from immigrants which is true, but we learned the language and the laws and obeyed them, and waited are turn for the great oppertunity this great country offers us. And to all the people who hate it so much they should go spend some time elsewhere, then maybe they would appreciate what they have. You see how fast they come running back.
