The following link is the public comment section of the VRMC Commission agenda.

http://www.mrc.state.va.us/Commission_Audio/0406/0406pm_12.mp3

It is about 3.5 MB. If you have a fast link just down load it and you can fast forward to the right spot which is about 20 minutes into the item.

Anyway, there is/was this petition that a number of crabbers signed asking to reduce the daily limit from 51 bu to 25 bu so that they can drive the price up by tightening up the market.  Of course the crab houses are against it.  It is the same glut in the market story with to few crab houses to buy the product and a basket market that won't pick up until late May.  In the end nothing was done as none of those who orginized the petition showed up, etc. But it will be discussed later this summer, regarding what to do next season.

Tom

PS .mp3 files of all of the Commission meetings from Jan. 2006 are available on the web at:  http://www.mrc.state.va.us/calendar.shtm
