Hey I have never been crabbib=ng in my life, but yall seem to be having loads of fun!  Cheesy  I got a trap design off the net and built one then I made one of my own design. We'll see if they work. I am open for any advice that someone might have as far as where to go (I will be around Galveston). Do I just pick a spot on the shore, look for a creek or backwaters? Also if any one could give me some idea about how much nets, and or traps might be I would really appreciate it. Thanks for the help...HAPPY CRABBIN!! Cool

Catfish, take a look at the Blue Crab Archives.  This forum is part of that.  The link is:

http://www.blue-crab.org/

It should pretty much tell you everything that you will need to know to catch crabs and answer most, if not all, of your questions.  Check with the locals to see what they are using.   About the only thing I know about Galveston is that it has a tidal bay off of the Gulf.  There must be fishing/crabbing piers in the area.
How about low bridges?  Bait shops, tackle stores, all can point you in the right direction.  Good luck.

not sure if you actually have a crab trap...but if you do make sure you have all licenses to fish it. right now i crab in sabine lake to the gulf. i am mostly catching in the deep in the ship channel. i have 100 ft of rope on my traps and about 25 pounds of sucker rod to hold them in the tide. if you aren't in 30-40ft of water you are wasting your time.
