Who would have thought a slimy little crustacean could cause all this hoopla? With crabs boiling, music bopping and libations flowing, Palatka's Blue Crab Festival has established itself as a bona fide North Florida phenomenon. Always Memorial Day Weekend.
Along the Forgotten Coast of Florida, and the Ochlocknee Bay, you'll find a sleepy little fishing village called Panacea. It's name means "cure all", and that's just what it is. A cure for the rat race, an escape from the hustle and bustle - except for one weekend of the year, that is. For 28 years now, this little town wakes up from months preparing for the celebration of one of our oldest living creatures, and our most common neighbor - the Blue Crab. And after all the effort, the months of planning, and neighbors working side by side, we open our town and our hearts to thousands of visitors every year for a day of fun, shopping, entertainment, and just some plain old down home hospitality! |
