My wife made a crab mac and cheese this week that was just awesome.  (and I'm not otherwise a fan of mac and cheese.)  It had plenty of crab, and a toping of bread crumbs.  It had spiral pasta rather than typical elbow noodles. It may have had 8oz of crab that we thawed from vacuum freezing last year.  What a winters day treat.

This brings up a memory of a recipe my wife decided to try called Crab LBJ, from the than Presidents wifes cookbook.
I remember this because I never let my wife forget how she ruined two lbs. of my hand picked crabmeat. lol.
Sorry, not a fan.
But I naturally dont like mac and cheese, but if you do, than adding crab to it would I guess be a bonus?
Say brother....can you spare a crab...

Funny and speaking of ruining meat, I recall ruining big money roasts in a $15 dollar charcoal smoker - twice.  I drop kicked that thing.  Lesson is don't use these things when its 25 degrees outside.

Anyway - I can assure you I am not a mac and cheese fan!  But this really came together - perhaps more in a crab and pasta sort of way.  Toasted breadcrumbs and little cheese.  LOL - even funnier is that I am now seeing I wrote something similar in the original post.  Nice revival on this thread was just about forgotten and to each their own definitely. - So Crabcruncher - what is something unique you enjoy making with crab???

Sorry to get back so late. I have seen many recipes for adding whole crabs to spaghetti sauce, but not one for using just crabmeat in it. Dont like the idea of biting into a mouthful of pasta and sauce and getting shards of crab shells.
So I like just the meat  in a red sauce with angel hair pasta.
For those who make it with the whole crab and say it adds flavor to the sauce, than try cooking the sauce with the cleaned crab, than remove the crabs and serve them separately before the pasta.

Same here. I have not had that yet. Hard to get my head around how the sauce doesn't totally overpower the crab taste.  But I do want to find out!

My Mother in Law was the greatest cook and she used to make mac and cheese with several different kinds of cheese in it.  My daughter has MIL's recipe and has tried a couple times but it just ain't the same.   I remember once MIL put about a pound of well seasoned crab meat (old bay) in her mac and cheese.  She called it crab casserole.  UmmHmm... Darn good eats!!!!    If there's food in heaven I think I'm gonna track her down someday and see if she'll make that crab casserole!!
I love to fish, but I live to crab.
