Can I color the float?

I've read the law on the floats- 6", must have an R that is legible and 2" tall. I've got that covered.

Is there anything to stop me from coloring other parts of the float? I don't see anywhere that the float has to be white. I just want to make sure I'm not gonna cause myself any headache. I kinda want to draw some palm trees on there or something. It would make it easier to spot.
