Hey everyone,

I feel like this should be a basic question, but I'm having the hardest time finding an answer.

So, I've got cooked, picked crab meat frozen already and I wanted to make my family's Maryland Crab Soup recipe, but it makes a TON of soup (two stock pots FULL). I've tried halving the recipe before and something just doesn't turn out right every time I do it, so we don't try to split it anymore, but it's obviously way too much soup to eat in a week.

Can I refreeze it IN the soup?

The last thing I want is to waste good soup (and the hours of time it takes to make it) and good meat.

Thanks!

For my two cents, you can freeze the soup.  Since the meat is already cooked it should not be a health issue.  Possibly some texture issues, but the flavor should be relatively unaffected.  I suggest trying it once or on a small amount to see how it goes.

But this information is worth every penny you paid for it.

I make large pots of soup and freeze them all the time.  Potatoes do get mushy, but the overall taste is great.
If it weren't for running in circles, I'd get nowhere.
