Well I finally made it back to my ol stomping grounds. Kayak- less this time so I waded out 8 ( 1/2 sized ) pots . Checked 4  times approx 12 hours apart with pretty bad success. 1st pull 16 crabs with 3 keepers. 2nd pull 13 crabs with 3 keepers, 3rd pull 17 crabs with 4 keepers , and 4th pull 16 crabs with 3 keepers. Pretty consistent but stinks !  I did manage to catch 9 stone crabs among the 62 crabs caught with 3 having a legal sized claw and today I had my 1st flounder of the year in one of the pots in the 18-19 inch range. Was a nice one and sure hurts having to toss them back when I can run to the fish house and pay 12.95 a pound for one brought in from somewhere.  Good crabbing everyone. Hope your luck is better than mine .

AH,  you didn't do too bad.   It's early.    Nice report!

Thanks for sharing.  No words to describe NCDNR Flounder foolery.   Glad you were able to soak some pots.   Always appreciate your reports.

Best wishes for more productive trips in the future.

Best,
Greg

Thanks Greg- I catch more flounder in my crab pots than I ever have before . I haven't set them much this year because the crabbing is awful- at least in the Surf City area. Sound is over run with drum. They will be on the flats once the mullet get a little more plentiful. Probably are now but finding bait takes a little time. Kayak is out of service so I haven't been chasing them as of yet.

Sax,

Thanks for the report, hopefully the crabbin gets better for you.
