well I thought I was done for the year but with spring like temps I decided to use some old bait I had in the freezer and give it a try. I set out just 6 ( 1/2 ) sized pots  because I was not expecting much. I checked the pots 3 times in 4 days and although I did not catch many crabs- what I did catch was nice sized jimmies. I caught a total of 37 crabs with 27 nice keepers in the pots. I also had 2 spider crabs - at least that is what I call them . Not a bad way to what is most likely my last crab trip until the spring. Until then its oysters and clams. Took a day and surf fished with a good friend at Fort Fisher and caught a load of small black drum, blowfish. We kept 12 nice sized mullet and 2 pompano- never caught one in Dec before. Caught a flounder and 8 big rays- ALL on shrimp. Merry Christmas to ALL you guys and ladies. Hope 2023 is among your BEST !

Great to see some late season jimmies. Makes me sad that I'd done for the year.

I hope you kept the blowfish...best eating fried fish along with the kingies. My friends can't wait til I bring some back for a fish fry. At first, it was "those things are poisonous and will kill you", to "when you gonna bring some more blowfish home?" They're really easy to clean once someone shows you how. We fished the CHAC Invitational surf fishing tournament, and had one session where all we caught were puffers. Cleaned 20.
