Well with the temps hitting over 80 degrees I thought I would hit Topsail sound and give it a shot. That is about all I did as the temp was warm but the crabs didn't want to play. I set out 2 full sized pots and 5  ( 1/2 size )  and gave them a 24 hour soak Feb 22 and Feb 23rd. 1st pull was 9 total crabs, 2 stone crabs and no keepers. Actually 1 stone crab had a claw large enough to keep but I figured what's the use? Day 2 netted 13 crabs with 1 stone crab and 3 keeper blue crabs. Pulled the pots and will try again :) Best of luck to you guys .

Nice report Sax, at least you were out there trying. Didn't know the season had already started for us NC folks. Hopefully I can get out there this year, last year I just focused on fishing from my boat.

Thanks for the report,
Greg

Hey Greg- once it warms up I'll set the pots and then fish the rest of the day. After I catch my 1 red drum, I mainly fish for junk for crab pot bait. I put those  hateful pin fish to work :)

Sax,

Last year I cut those pinfish up, and caught sea mullet with them.
