Went out crabbing for the first time this year in Jacksonville. This was the the same time I started the year before when I was able to pull in a dozen ++ nice ones. Not so this year. I crabbed at my go to places along Heckscher Drive. I got mostly small throw backs and ended up with three medium sized ones. I went again yesterday and did even worse. Hopefully things will start to pick up soon. The surf fishing has been good. This year the crabs here seemed totally uninterested in meaty big whiting, blue fish and pompano filets. Next trip I'll see if they are more interested in chicken. Hope you are all doing well south of here. Peter

Check out the YouTube channel called Crabbing with Tony.  He's up in the Jax area and he does okay.  His videos are a bit long, he spends a lot of time filming himself baiting the traps but if you skip ahead you can see his catch.   You might recognize some of the spots he's using.  Last video I saw he caught a jumbo about 8 1/2 inches from point to point.   Good luck!

Thanks for your report but wish you could have done better!
It hasn't been too good in my area in New Smyrna either.
I talked with a crabber this past weekend who said she crabbed for four hours and got four crabs but  three were with eggs!
Retired in paradise!
