We had a plan, stop at the park and crab for awhile and then head north on Beach St. to other crabbing spots in the Ormond area.

Arrived around 9:30am and got setup.   Issue #1 - it was unexpectedly cold.   Like 65°F with a 20mph wind and cloudy.   I did not expect to be cold at the end of May in Florida.  I was dressed for hot weather and ended up shivering in my chair for 2 hours until the sun finally came out.  Yes, 65 is cold to me, I am a Floridian.

No action at all.  The water was really high even though high tide was around 6am.  Left to go north and discovered Beach St. was under water.   My car can't go through that so we went back into the park.

Ended up with 3 females, all keepers.   1 male crab that was only 4", we let him go.   Very disappointed, left there with a terrible sunburn and dumped our 3 measly crabs back into the river.   Going to be a few weeks before we can try agian.

At least you tried! I keep wanting to go set the traps, but 'stuff' keeps happening!!

Thanks for your report but sorry to hear your catch!
You didn't miss anything in NSB.
There were three families crabbing under the south causeway on Monday and they caught nothing while I was there.
There were several other groups crabbing on Saturday and Sunday with the same results!
I looked at my notes from last year and crabbing didn't pick up until July.
Retired in paradise!
