Hello all, I have had a hard time finding the rules on this.  With the 1 bushel limit or a slow day, I am wondering if I can take my harvest back to the dock on private property and place them in a decommissioned not functionable pot for safe live keeping over the course of say 3 days or until I get the quantity needed for a family gathering.  I have seen several property owners do this and have crabs available any time the wish to steam em up.  But with my luck, if not perfectly legal and written in text somewhere I will be the one to find out the hard way  ;D.

Keep in mind that is 1 bushel "possession" limit.  So you can not accumulate more then 1 bushel in your possession in any given day.

Which implies that you probably CAN do this as long as you don't accumulate over a bushel before steaming them up.

If you needed to I guess you could steam bushel 1 and store in the fridge for a day or two while you catch bushel 2. On the day steam bushel 2 and re-steam (heat up) bushel 1. As long as the timing works out so the pre-steamed crabs were still fresh it would be pretty hard to get called out on having more than the bushel.
