Set out 7 pots  this time in my normal spots. Checked twice before taking them out this morning. Total crabs caught was 48 with 2 being stone crabs- released. Caught 3 flounder and 2 blowfish this time. Ended up with 23 keepers so enough to eat at least. Best pot had 7 crabs and I did pull 2 blanks. Pin fish and croakers were the main bait. Also had 1 trout carcass.

Nice report Sax, did you keep the puffers? Enjoy those crabs. I did get out to crab last week. Will post a late report.

Finally got the crab the New Bern area on 7/6. Using chicken necks, water temp was 81. I only took 15 ring traps with me, a moved from 6-12ft . Didn't see a crab, not one. Did catch some croakers though. I was surprise to see a rather big turtle in one of the rings.

Hey Greg, glad to see someone besides me that has a report on here :). I post them even if they are bad. Sorry you didn't get any crabs around New Bern. Could be all the rain caused too much freshwater down there and they moved a bit east to saltier water. Just an opinion. I didn't keep the puffers as they were on the small side. Man will they eat some crabs up. If you ever want a pot full. Save your crab discards- legs, shells etc and bait a pot with that- especially around September when the water starts cooling down. I've had 14 in 1 pot before.
