As a retailer I sell a lot of 3-Strand with 3/16" Snoods in 1200'.  I would say the most common request is (4) 1200' lines made at the same time for commercial guys.  That gives you 4,800' of line to configure and run how you'd like.  Let me know if you need anything, we sell a ton of crabbing gear.

Great point, Jack. And we would all fully understand if you deleted his unpermitted, business ad above. That would be a much better "Reminder", as I believe you called it.   ;) ;)

You've been given some good advice from the guys on here. It seems obvious to me that you've never used a trotline. It's probably time for some trial and error experience and learning. Build your rig, use some short lines (600' would probably be good) make your mistakes and come back for advice on your problems. You can't learn it all from a keyboard, and the guys will tire of giving you info if you don't actually get your feet wet.

Back in the 1960s you could use a 300 tar sisal hemp spool from Sunny Surplus and my dad and uncle would catch 10 to 13 bushels out of Greenwood Creek.  You rememebr those days doncha Mikie because you're older than me.  ;D

Reds can chime in here too.  ;D
This is how it's going to go.  After I kick your A$$ i'm going to run you through the wood chipper and put you in containers in the freezer to use in my crab pots!  The really sad part?  You let an old man kick your A$$!!!

Did you mean 1860s?  You and Abraham Lincoln? :o ;D

I started with a piece of tarred sisal and some eels, and I can still smell the tar on my hands

You might not believe this Brian, I thought I still had one of those, went down and looked in the basement storeroom and there it is!
It's hanging right next to the float tube I used to catch bass on the Patapsco River in Woodstock about the same time.
