Does anyone put weights on their traps and rings  ( Recreational?) or is the trap and bait in itself enough to keep upright on bottom?

I use a 2 ounce egg sinker in my rings. It lets them go down without flipping over. With that weight in there you can actually swing them back and forth and then throw them overhand a great distance.
That comes in handy if you want to move them if they get out of line and you can also throw them deeper or shallower without having to pick them all up and relaying them.

Thank you Perfectionist  the reason asking was my last trip out last weekend the traps were coming up out of form more than the usual although not many crabs caught that day turtles were plentiful and a pair of jet skiers using the floats as slalom markers. I was thinking those two situations could have caused the trap issues.

Hey Perfectionist, when you going to start crabbing?

I don't think I'm going to be able to get out this year. My supply of 600 Perfectionist Crabs Rings are about gone. I'm in overdrive trying to get more made from scratch to keep up with orders. Seems strange with all the orders since I haven't even posted a trip or mentioned my rings on the forum. This year is number 9 for yours. Doesn't seem that long ago when I met you. I must be getting old. Times flying by too fast. Catch and eat some for me. I sure miss getting out. I'm going through crab withdrawal.

Great to hear you are doing so well with your Perfectionist Ring Traps. The ones I purchased 9 yrs. ago are still working well with a few minor repairs.  I purchased 10 more a few yrs. ago with a friend who purchased 20. That is basically all I use they are the best.
Hope you get a break and can get out. Always like your reports.
