Attempting Bear mountain area tomorrow morning. I know a lot of Bear  mountain is still closed. Any suggestions? ::)

Still closed, try Annsville or Peekskill. Unless your fine with paying a ticket.

Crabbed on the small bridge about a mile down from the Bear mountain dock. Totally sucked, set up at 6 am crabbed till 11 am. Still tide from 6 till 10 tide started going out, ended up with 9 keepers. Talked to someone who belongs to the railroad, he said nobody should bother us as long as we were away from the tracks  :)

No barriers across the road? Good to know, been there before myself... They seem to be very late in the marshes this year. No doubt in my mind it has to do with all the rain we've had lately. Hitting them one the incoming tide seemed the better tide when I went down in Haverstraw. Not a thing on the outgoing.

I had the same issue in Piermont. Crabbed all morning, got nothing, about 30 min after the tide started coming in, that's when I landed all the ones I caught that day. Once tide slaced, action stopped.

We attempted Bear mountain last Friday, the forecast all week was calling for showers, we got there at 5 am and there was no thunder but it was downpouring and lightning like crazy, checked the hourly weather. Supposed to clear up after 8 am but we weren't sticking around for 3 hours. Thinking about this Friday, forecast calling for heavy t storms, can't catch a break this year!!! Mother nature is being a real b...h this year. Oh well, we still have approximately 7 weeks left possibly. Just have to go with the flow. ??? :(

Would imagine technically the pier is also closed seeing that there's no parking allowed out on Iona Island or the other two areas along the river. According to link, they still have all the hiking trails shutdown.
