My last day of the season on Thursday. The water was 59°, ran 30 traps from 11'-13', 8AM incoming to dead low tide at 12:17PM, caught an average of 5 crabs per run. No complaints, a perfect autumn day. All in all had a good year. Here's to a better 2024 season. Time for fall fishing!

Good stuff.  I was out there with a buddy that day too. We started in Middle River and moved over to Rocky Point after couple hours and less than a dozen.  We ended up with couple dozen when tide quit, not nearly as many as you had. But we did get this guy.  Biggest crab I've seen for a long time.  The "lil" crab under him was a #1, lil over 6".
I love to fish, but I live to crab.

Back in the 80's and 90's I used to buy a couple of dozen crabs once or twice a week from a couple of local guys in Harford County, Md.  I'd always keep the largest shell and measure it when done eating them.  I quite often had one or two that measured 9 inches or so.  Biggest I ever bought was 9.25.  Just don't see them like that much anymore.  Moved to the Tampa, Fl area 14 years ago.  What they call large here is laughable.  Most rarely are 6 inches or so.  Hardly ever buy them now.

Went to New Orleans 10 years ago and went to a couple of restaurants recommended by a former resident.  None of the places I went even had crabs.  One even had it in the name.  Seems most are shipped north.

Sure miss the "true" jumbo crabs.
