" New emergency regulations governing recreational striped bass/ rockfish fishing, implemented two weeks ago by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC), may become a permanent fixture in Maryland. The state's Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is contemplating the move, sparking concerns among charter boat operators who fear it could devastate their industry.

Under the previous rule, anglers were allowed to keep two striped bass per person, each in a slot size between 19 and 31 inches. However, the new regulation permits only one keeper fish per angler, limited to a slot size of 19 to 24 inches, with the aim that the fish 25 inches and above are the breeders. "

Does New Jersey still have the extra fish, that was commercial and now rec? If Maryland is being stripped. Then the other states need be  also.

I agree.  VA is May 16 through June 15 inclusive.

B. The minimum size limit shall be 20 inches total length.

C. The maximum size limit shall be 28 inches total length.

D. The daily possession limit shall be one fish per person.

I won't even make a political "government" comment right now, even though it is TOTALLY warranted. I should though, because this is absolute [bull dung]!!!!! Maybe somebody else can make the comments for me. Perhaps someone who won't get their hiney smacked by moderators.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.  Get ready to see a drop in the young crab population since that is one of the favorite meals of Rockfish.

the rockfish- stripedbass pop is in trouble in md for sure, it's not political, IMHO

I know all those dolphins showing up every year  aren't helping the situation.  I believe there chasing all the rockfish into the Baltimore harbor.

There was a good bite there last year, that's for sure.  Heading out of the Patapsco early one Saturday morning, I counted more than 70 charter boats heading upriver from parts unknown.  Lasted right up until the mid season closure

i seen them too rich, looed like some got slips local to me. they were fishin twice a day morning and afternoon. some were from ches. beach.
