Back at it with crazy weather conditions. It was 91 degrees on Thursday April 18 and it was 37 this morning when I left Holly Ridge to come back home. Had high wind, Thunderstorms, all day rain on Sunday but still did fairly well. Set out 9 pots, 5 full sized and 4 1/2 size.  Made 4 pulls and caught a total of 148 crabs with 61 keepers and 6 undersized stone crabs. This was at Surf City, NC

Is that trawler grounded on just on the poor man's railway?

Trawler has been abandoned for several months now, Started out in the ICW with a breakdown of some kind. Storms came and broke anchor several times and drifted over and over and now is stuck in 2 foot of water and cannot be towed as there is not enough water to float it. Not sure what the plan is for the owners. I hear alot about the guy that owns it and its all what I have heard- unsure if its true but I do know if that were mine and I had all that $$$$$$ wrapped up in it, it surely would not have been left there for so long. Waited way too long to take action.

Those old wood trawlers aint worth a lot....he might not have as much in it as you think.

Awesome pictures! Finally made an account so I can see the pictures. Always just viewed your reports. I take my mom crabbing just off piers with crab nets. I've been to surf city but just soundside park. That pier in the pic, is that surf city? If so, where is that at if you don't mind me asking?

That Pier is at Morris Landing in Holly Ridge- should be a great place to crab. I just got home a few minutes ago from being down there. If you crab- Do Not try this Saturday May 4th as they are having a ceremony of the rebuilt pier, and it will be a mad house down there. Any other day and time is fine- just trying to save you some hassle.

Thanks for the info. May try next Thursday or Friday. I'm from Fayetteville. Usually crab at Sunset Beach, and Suft City Soundside park. Also use to try Holden Beach, so would like to try a new place. Appreciate your posts.
