Wareham 7/27- the good, the bad, the ugly

The good- great day, crabs are bigger, and they were cooperative. We boated 10 nice crabs in about 1 hour on the water. 4 traps, an 11 year old, a 3 year old, the Mrs and me.

The bad- caught a trap on the prop...had to row to shore, get out in the mud and untangle it. ( kids need to learn how to drop pots in the water and not get them tangled) Lesson learned, I hope..

The ugly- I had one of the kids get the steamer pot ready. I told him 3 cups of water, a beer, lemon, vinegar and old bay.  Should have double checked how much liquid.. steamed up the 10 crabs we caught but at 19 minutes I smelled smoke! Boiled off all the liquid! Burned the pot and smoked the crabs😢. They still tasted ok, but there was a smoky flavor and it lingered in 5he air. Oh well, I have to scrub like a dirty sailor tomorrow... oh well, we had a great day...

my son and I have been caught there in our kayaks during a negative low tide a few years ago and the mud is no joke there. We were sinking in up to our knees. Fun fact water shoes come right off in the mud and there are sharp oysters buried in that mud.
