Got on the water at 6:15 a.m. Tons of crabbers already with lines and traps laid. Had an incoming tide until around noon. Two 600 ft lines with fowl neck. Laid both in an open part of the river at 10 to 14 Ft and ran twice with not a single crab. The waves were already picking up ran both a last time. Landed one 6+ inch crab. Picked up moved up river to a protected creek. On our way up saw so many trot floats it was hard to tell where lines were laid. Got to our spot laid both in areas we had caught crabs previously. Again nothing. Finally decided to head down river to a creek where we also caught before. The whole front 2/3's was taken so we moved to the back in the deepest channel we could find. 6 to 8ft. It was on with smalls. Must have caught 100 illegal sized crabs. We managed to catch around 30 keepers by 12:30. All on the smaller side. For part of this catch we had to manage without a throttle. With the cowl off I had to manually change the motor speed by hand. Boats are fun. Anyway, hopefully this means September and October will be on with big crabs.
