Been a while since I tried my luck. Work and bad weather have kept me in Wake County. Anyway- I did manage to set 3 full sized pots and 3 (1/2 size) on Wednesday afternoon and checked on Thursday and Friday and removed the pots. Total crabs caught was 62 with 22 keepers, 3 stone crabs and 3 blowfish. Planned to stay extra days this time but weather looks shaky with this Tropical mess headed this way so I decided to come back and wait it out and then go back again. Got plenty of crabs for myself. Good crabbing all ! I think we need to rename this NC post to Saxon's page. I know I can't be the only one crabbing.

Unfortunately, I think facebook reports have this site on decline....even the MD section is dead now.  I'll be in Emerald Isle end of august...I'll report back

Like I have stated before,,, N.C. crabbing laws SUCK !   The coms. have all of New River to themselves , and they are thick !
I have never in 15 years seen a recreational crabber in this river...  So who is going to do a report for 1 pot off there dock ?
Dam few docks around here,,,, Government owns 95% of the shoreline here,,, witch dose make it a great place to be !
Last year i tried a doz. lift traps ,,, But crab pop. is not so good around here and that made for a looong slooow day...
Not to mention the Pin fish wiping out the bait in short order !   BUT the clamming is GREAT ! ;D
