Has anyone tried the Mantoloking bridge (land from under the bridge) area recently?  Looking to give it a shot this week.
Thanks.

how are you planning to crab from the dock or boat? If you are going on land with traps ,go to Windwrd Beach.Beautiful park with a crabbing and fishing dock. Also important to note clean rest rooms.Get there early at sun rise, if you are using drop lines you need a longer net than usual, You will be a little high off the water. You will be crabbing on the Metedeconk river, good luck. PS use chicken thighs with skin on them.

One more thing the mantoloking pier is always crowded. you have to be there all day to catch 1 dozen nice crabs.

Pisano I was there 2 weeks ago  land crabbing off the bulkhead (Pots) got there at 4:40AM people were already there, I was like you have to be kidding me.  Guys next to me had most of the waterfront they went home with 30+ I went home with 18 big males.  We caught about 40+ and took home what we thought were some nice heavy crabs (18).  After being kicked off the Gooseneck bridge after so many years I have been looking for places to go land crabbing only,  where is the Windward Beach park. I have 20-25ft lines so many bridges are not an issue for me I just don't want to travel to far as I live in Matawan.

As far as land crabbing:

Winward beach park also gets crowded... Been there recently a couple times around 5am and the sweet spots were all taken. For me, Winward beach wasn't very productive.

Had been to Mantoloking bridge park a few times and caught only a dozen 5in after 4-6 hours hand-lining. Yesterday, netted lots of small females that were let go. Lots of mating activities going on.
