8/18 Old Lyme

Went on outgoing tide and caught 5 before the turtles attacked.  Chewed up a lot of bait so we left.  Anyone seen the darker brown shelled crabs?  It isn't rusty bottom was clean white, first I've seen them.

We went from the docks.  Only threw back a few smalls.  All were 6" and up.  Hopefully back this week.  Any thoughts on the brown shell?  Start of the molt?

I went Saturday and got a dozen, most had that brown shell you are talking about.

Ive seen dark carapace before. Safe to eat. Not sure if it means another molt or not.
