I was thinking the same thing. I have not seen a post this summer from him. I gave him a text and will call him when I get a free minute. Or hopefully he responds to you.

I was just saying that to my buddy while we were crabbing yesterday. We usually see him quite a lot back in the Fortescue Glades.

What a joy to have met so many nice fellow crabbers and watermen over the years,  and to have made some great friends.  Thanks for asking and here is the explaination.  Thank you folks!

2024, Sept 4  It has been a good year and a half since the Capt has navigated his creek ship on the water.  The problem is the Capt has had a hard time walking and it has been worse and mainly since Dec to the point he barely can walk around the yard.  Strong consideration was given to selling the creek ship and retiring from creek life.  I prayed about it and decided to continue life as a content old man anyway.

Philippians 4:11-13  11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.  12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.  13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

A few weeks ago we visited Rothmans Institute and met with Dr Zachary Post.  Xrays were taken and they were scary.  The right hip is bone on bone and the femur is mashed up inside the socket and that makes the right leg shorter than the left.  It is bad, really bad.

Then the Doctor says "You are a perfect candidate for an anterior hip replacement, and this is going to be a home run.  You will not even know your hip was ever bad when we are done"
That was great news!  But then the soonest he could do it would be Nov 26.  I asked to be put on an on call list, I was told it was unlikely there would be an opening and some folks wait for 6 months.

The beloved bride brought me home and I lied down to take a nap.  I prayed and asked my heavenly father to have someone cancel their appointment so I can have it.

I woke up and there was a message on my phone, someone cancelled and there was an opening for Sept 5!  That was only 2.5 weeks away!  I passed all the pre-op tests last week and it's a go!

So tomorrow, Sept 5 every early in the morning I will be getting a new hip!  Everything will be put in place and I will be able to walk correctly for the first time in over a year and a half.

As far as the creeks go,  well,  I'll be back!

2024, Sept 15 10:00am  It has now been exactly 240 hours (10 days) since I woke up with the old hip gone!    The past 10 days has been work, but so worth it.  I walked around the yard this morning very early, using a cane and everything felt so solid!  No more pain in the hip that I had for the last couple of years.  So grateful!  As I endure the soreness and see little victories each day I will rejoice and am glad I did this!

Capt, It was good to have a long texting last evening with you and very glad to see you come here and share the info you shared last night with me. I wish you the best of luck tomorrow and look forward to hearing about your next creek adventure. I am sure everyone will like to see their favorite capt back in the creeks filling those holding tanks.

Captain Williecrab,
Great to hear from you as I was very concerned for your well being. Wonderful news that an opening for your procedure knocked on your door and will have you better than new.  There's no doubt you'll be tearing up that creek next year. Take care and good luck my friend.
