This morning i checked the traps after a 2 day soak and was pleased to see 26 crabs in the 4 traps with 17 nice and heavy keepers. The water is still warm,i think we have another month of good crabbing. Here are some pics.

I wonder why the crabs stick around North Jersey and the Delaware Bay estuaries until later in the year, but the Barnegat area shuts down in August, if not sooner.
Oh, de crab, he taste so fine.
Yuh catch 'um wid a neck an' a line.
Bile de water 'til 'e good 'n hot.
Den eat de crab strait from 'de pot.

Oh, de beer, he taste so chilly.
Drinks it 'til I gets too silly.
Washin' down 'de crab an' butter.
If I doesn't fall down, I'll 'ave anudder.

Crewstation that is a good question ,i always did better in Barnegat bay in July and August never crabbed there as much in September and never in October.I am going to do some research and if someone on the site knows why please share the info  on why crabbing in Barnegat is not as good in the fall.
