24 ring traps baited with c/n's

After talking to a couple of fellow crabbers down at the Wye party and reading many good reports over many years, we decided to give the Shrewsbury River a shot. Had fellow members reach out with some good intel and it paid off. In the first and second photos, you can see how many crabs we caught after the two runs. It was game on from the start. 2 of the traps had 3 keepers each, with the balance each having crabs. We ended the day around 10:30 as the winds picked up like the forecast called for. When the spray breaks over the bow, and the Captain gives the order of, that's enough of this BS, we have plenty of crabs, it's time to go. Take a look at Old Glory standing out in the wind. Overall the best crabbing trip in many years, plenty of females that went back. Only had about 12 pulls with nothing in it. Ended the day with over 3/4's of a bushel that I cooked up and gave to the neighbors.

Crewstation you came thru at the Shrews, with 3/4 of a bushel ,you did better than i thought i figured 1/2 bushel would be great with the strong breeze. Great job, thanks for the report.

Thanks for the good report. I was planning on going early this week, but small craft warnings are still out there, and then the temperatures starts to drop. Hopefully we still have a little action left.

crabbola,
Always get the latest up dates on the weather, especially the winds. The winds are our enemy out on the water. You wisely look at the small craft advisory and decided to wait for better weather. We need to educate the folks that don't go out often, renting a boat, taking your own boat, that you need to check the marine forecast in the area you are going. There not always right, but more often than not they are.
