Decided to make one last go at it before storing the boat. Launched at 10:00 a.m.figuring to get second tide and have the water warm up a bit The water stayed at around 63 degrees for the whole day. Brought a 900 ft line baited with 20 dollars worth of razor clams. I brought long lead lines to go deep. Our depths ranged from 13 ft to 30 feet. Moved the line three times. Left with 12 crabs. Half were beasts and the other have heavy but under 6 inches. The first crab, which I missed, came up from 22 feet. It came up covered in mud. I couldn't even tell it was a crab at first. None of the others that we saw came up muddy. I missed around  6 crabs due to swim off. All our catch was coming up from 18 to 27 feet.
At least we ended with a meal to split. This season was definitely not the best. I would guesstimate our catch was somewhere around 500 crabs for the season. That averages out to a half bushel each trip.

Sometimes on a tough day when you see them swim off just out of range, the cuss words come out more frequently. At least you didn't come home empty handed. Enjoy your treat.

You went out there and gave it your best shot and you nailed a few! Nice.
