I'm renting a place on the Choptank river from July 7th through the 11th. I hope to rent a boat for crabbing/fishing for those days. Would anyone happen to know where to find someone to rent a boat for a couple of days? My rental has a dock right near the Bill Burton Bridge. Any information is appreciated. Happy New Year!!!

I love to fish, but I live to crab.

I live in Cambridge and I can't recall anyone renting boats that setup for crabbing.  You may want to also contact Ferry Point Marina and Composite Yacht.  Both are right a the foot of the bridge on the talbot side.  You could also check the Hyatt in Cambridge.  I know that Blackwater Adventures runs the rental kayaks there.  The Hyatt also rents jet skis, so it worth a try to call them.  Are you looking to run a trot line, or just snatch pots?
Just one of the few bad apples that keeps wizzing in the MSSA's and TF's milk.  Not because I have violations (because I don't'), but because I'm catching the resources that they claim to own and have more rights to.

I have 30 Perfectionist traps. I used to go to the Bill Burton Pier all the time. Do you know of any other public piers in the area?  I appreciate the information.

Sorry for the delay in responding.  I've been netting for perch the last few days.  There are some bridges below Cambridge in the lower portion of Dorchester county.  One going on to Taylors Island.  Smithville Road Bridge.  There is one close to that going towards Hooper's Island.  Also Bestpitch Ferry bridge, and Suicide Bridge.  Definitely call the Hyatt to see if they have any rental boats.  Good crabbing right outside the marina there.

I see many members from long distances away (especially at the Get Together) and surprises me when I see how close some of the BCA members are to where I live. I am just outside of Preston Maryland.

I grew up in outside of Preston (Tanyard), but moved to Cambridge when I got married.  Depending on you age, we probably went to school together.  Graduated in 84.

Another former Eastern Shore guy here. Hurlock Elementary School then we moved to Secretary for high school years (NDHS class of 1969).  I met Jack (Logical1) a couple years ago at now "his" special crabbing place and found out he was friends with my cousins.  Small world.

That probably should have been a private conversation between the two of you. Unless, of course, Bernie Moxey doesn't mind his name and picture being plastered on random websites that he is not part of. I wouldn't like it.

Slaughter Creek and Lil Choptank is great crabbing but it's just crazy with all the great water around Cambridge there's no boat rentals.  You didn't say but is your rental house on Radiance Dr?

Nice area.  My old boss used to live down the street from your rental near the old bridge. He died same year I bought half his business.  A great guy, 35 years later I still miss him. If he was still living he'd know somebody that would rent you a boat, or let you use one of his. He had another property on Blackwater River where we hunted ducks and geese with small wood skiffs with small outboards that we used for getting to the water blinds. They'd worked fine for crabbing the Choptank on calm days.
